HIGHLIGHTS: Pulse Public Information Meeting #12

If you missed our Quarterly Public Information Meetings October 25, you can still keep your finger on the Pulse! The presentation from the meeting is online for your convenience.

Brian Basnight, the LANE Construction Pulse BRT Project Manager, presented at both Noon and 6PM on what has happened so far with utility work and what's coming next for construction.
Brian Basnight explains the types of utility work that's been happening since August 2016.
There are a LOT of construction details in this presentation, so we encourage you to dig into this important information with us. As Brian explained, the next phases of construction are organized into "Groups." There are groups of station platforms (which are all identical with only minor tweaks based on the slope/incline of the roadway), and those stations share similar utility characteristics. In other words, some stations may be working around one kind of utility while another group of stations may be working around a totally different kind of utility. Of course, the team is always exceptionally sensitive to where all utilities are located in the areas where they will be working. Did you know - there is even an archaeological monitor for this project!

Beyond constructing stations, there will also be roadway, median and sidewalk work that will lead to improvements at 53 intersections! This includes providing ADA improvements.

As LANE moves into the meat and potatoes of construction this Fall, they will continue with due diligence in safety, notification of activities to the public, and will also minimize impacts to surrounding locations as much as feasible.

Important GRTC Bus Rider Information

Work zones temporarily close any GRTC bus stops within that area. Operators are announcing closed bus stops to inform customers. GRTC offers the following two choices for customers unable to access their bus stop in a work zone.
  • Customers can request a stop at the next open bus stop. Before exiting the bus, ask the Operator for a free "Emergency Transfer" to board a bus across the street. Ride that bus back to the original destination, cross the street again in the pedestrian pathways through the work zone. Please note: this free pass is timed to accommodate customers needing to connect onto a different bus as a result of a closed bus stop.
  • Customers may remain on the bus to the Temporary Transfer Plaza and ride back to the original destination across the street without paying another fare.
