Pardon Our Dust UPDATE

LANE Construction continues work on GRTC Pulse, a new bus rapid transit system serving the Richmond Region, from Rocketts Landing to Willow Lawn. This week, roadway work continued on the north side of westbound Broad Street. Saw-cutting also occurred in the median of Broad Street, in preparation for station construction. Traffic signal testing continued throughout the Pulse corridor.

Most of the work in the look-ahead is occurring during permitted work hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Saturday.  During the week of Jan. 30, night work is required to perform traffic signal work (trenching and pulling conduit) at signal intersections along Broad Street and Main Street.

Details are below. All schedules are weather and progress-dependent.

Starting Mon., Jan. 23, the median and inside lanes (eastbound & westbound) of Broad Street, from Hamilton Street to 1st Street, are expected to close until the GRTC Pulse median stations in this area are constructed. In addition to the median and inside lane closures, motorists should anticipate lane shifts in areas where median stations are being built. Lane Construction will uphold MOT at all times.

Traffic will be guided by weighted orange barrels, signage, protective fencing and concrete barriers. They are there for the general safety and well-being of the traveling public, as well as Lane’s workers. Motorists are advised to slow down, obey all traffic signs and watch out for workers and pedestrians when traveling through work zones. Please remember: Orange Cones = NO Phones.

While Lane Construction is committed to work zone safety, accidents can sometimes occur. If you accidentally hit any equipment, such as an orange barrel, please call the GRTC Pulse Construction Hotline, (804) 980-0084.

This week, utility relocation is occurring on Main Street. Roadway work is continuing on the north side of westbound Broad Street. Traffic signal testing is continuing throughout the Pulse corridor. Effective Mon., Jan. 23, permanent closures of the median and inside lanes of Broad Street, from Hamilton Street to 1st Street, is expected. This work is occurring during permitted work hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Saturday.
Details are below. All schedules are weather and progress-dependent. Due to the snowstorm over the weekend impacting roads and travel, construction could not occur on Mon., Jan. 9. Crews performed snow clean-up on Tues., Jan. 10. Construction activity resumed on Wed., Jan. 11.
