Pardon Our Dust UPDATE

LANE Construction continues with utility relocation on GRTC Pulse, a new bus rapid transit system serving the Richmond Region, from Rocketts Landing to Willow Lawn. Work continues along the south side of Broad Street, between Thompson and Laurel Streets.

Multiple work crews are working in multiple locations along the corridor. Temporary closures of the curb lane, adjacent sidewalk and bus stops located in work zones will continue through mid-October.
Work hours are Monday to Saturday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is important to note that field conditions happen rapidly and LANE’s goal is to work safely and swiftly to minimize impacts to the areas where they work. LANE is committed to ensuring that all businesses have access to entry points and deliveries throughout construction. The schedule is progress and weather-dependent, and can change in the field as conditions evolve. LANE is permitted to perform work anywhere on Broad Street between Thompson and Laurel, but they are doing their best to notify each block with appropriate signage as work progresses.

This week (Mon., Sept. 19 to Fri., Sept. 23), utility work moved eastward from Strawberry Street to Meadow Street. These operations also moved westward from Shafer Street to Harrison Street. Additionally, crews worked eastward from Thompson Street to Wayne Street.

Tues., October 4, 2016 -- Phase I Station Construction expected to begin
As early as Tues., Oct. 4, crews are expected to begin Phase I of Station Construction: saw-cutting and demolition. This is expected to occur on westbound Broad St., between Allison and Strawberry St., along the curb lane and sidewalk. This work is expected to take one (1) to five (5) days in this location, but this schedule is weather and progress-dependent. Impacts include temporary closures of the westbound curb lane and adjacent sidewalk, as well as temporary loss of street parking, from Allison St. to Strawberry St.

Once work in this location is complete, crews are expected to continue this work in the median of Broad Street, from Thompson Street to Laurel Street. Impacts include some sectional closures of the inside median lanes, in both the eastbound and westbound directions, where work is occurring. The entire stretch of median lanes from Thompson to Laurel will not be closed at this time.

LANE is committed to ensuring that all businesses have access to entry points and deliveries throughout construction. For most up-to-date information, please call the GRTC Pulse Construction Hotline at (804) 980-0084.
