LANE Construction continues work on GRTC Pulse, a new bus rapid transit system serving the Richmond Region, from Rocketts Landing to Willow Lawn. This week, rain and inclement weather prevented LANE from performing construction activity on Mon., Jan. 23. Work resumed on Tues., Jan. 24, with continuation of roadway work on the north side of westbound Broad St. Traffic signal work continued at intersections throughout the Pulse corridor.
Most of the work in the look-ahead is occurring during permitted work hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Saturday. On Thursday, Jan. 26, night work (6 p.m. to 6 a.m.) was required for traffic signal work on Broad St. starting at Thompson St. and progressing eastward. Night work is expected to continue through the coming weeks, at signal intersections throughout the entire Pulse corridor.

All schedules are weather and progress-dependent.
Starting Mon., Jan. 30, the median and inside lanes (eastbound & westbound) of Broad St., from Hamilton St. to 1st St., are expected to close until the GRTC Pulse median stations in this area are constructed. In addition to the median and inside lane closures, motorists should anticipate lane shifts in areas where median stations are being built. Lane Construction will uphold MOT at all times.
Traffic will be guided by weighted orange barrels, signage, protective fencing and concrete barriers. They are there for the general safety and well-being of the traveling public, as well as Lane’s workers. Motorists are advised to slow down, obey all traffic signs and watch out for workers and pedestrians when traveling through work zones. Please remember: Orange Cones = NO Phones.
While Lane Construction is committed to work zone safety, accidents can sometimes occur. If you accidentally hit any equipment, such as an orange barrel, please call the GRTC Pulse Construction Hotline, (804) 980-0084.
