Pardon Our Dust UPDATE

LANE Construction continues with work on GRTC Pulse, a new bus rapid transit system serving the Richmond Region, from Rocketts Landing to Willow Lawn. Currently, utility relocation is continuing on Main Street. Roadway work is continuing on the north side of westbound Broad Street.  Work is also beginning in the median of Broad Street, also in preparation of station construction.  

Permitted work hours are from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Saturday.  Please note that night work (6 p.m. to 6 a.m.) is scheduled on Main Street at 15th Street on Wednesday, January 11 and Thursday, January 12.  

Also, effective, Monday, January 23, LANE will close the Broad Street median from Hamilton Street to 1st Street, as per new Work-In-Street-Permit.  This will allow LANE greater flexibility to build Groups 1 and 2 (all median stations) concurrently, when possible.  Follow us on Twitter @GRTCPulse for updates on work hours.

WEEKLY RE-CAP:   Tuesday, January 4 to Saturday, January 7

Utility Relocation:

•     Where:   Eastbound and westbound Main St., from 15th St. to 17th St.
•     Impacts: Temporary closures of sidewalk. Work does not require lane or       parking closures.

Roadway Construction:   

•     Where:  North side of westbound Broad St., between Allison St. and             Strawberry St.
•     Impacts: Temporary closures of the westbound curb lane and adjacent         sidewalk, as well as  temporary loss of street parking, from Allison St. to     Strawberry St. 

Median Station Construction:

•     Where:  Median of Broad St., from Thompson St. to Foushee St.
•     Details:  Work includes sawcutting in median
•     Impacts:  Temporary closures of median and inside lanes of Broad St., in     both the eastbound and westbound directions, between Thompson St.         and Foushee St.  

Traffic Signal Work:  

•     Where:   Broad St. at Willow Lawn Dr. east to 14th St.

                           14th Street between Broad St. and Main St.

                           Main St. at 14th St. east to Orleans St.

•     Impacts:  Temporary closure of curb lane, adjacent sidewalk and bus           stops in affected areas

NOTE: Work is occurring in both eastbound and westbound directions.

Monday, January 9 to Saturday, January 14

Utility Relocation:

•     Where:   Eastbound and westbound Main St., at 15th St. 
•     When:    This is night work (6 p.m. to 6 a.m.) occurring on Wed., Jan.            11 and Thurs., Jan. 12.
•     Impacts:   Double lane closures moving laterally across Main St. One     travel lane will remain open in the eastbound and westbound directions.

•     Impacts:  Temporary closures of the westbound curb lane and                     adjacent sidewalk, as well  as temporary loss of street parking, from            Allison St. to Strawberry St.

•     Where:    Median of Broad St., between Allison St. & Meadow St. 
•     Impacts:   Permanent closures of median and inside lanes of Broad St.,       in both the eastbound and westbound directions, at Allison East. Street       parking impacts are as follows:  North side of Broad St (WB direction)         between Strawberry St. and Allen Ave.: parking will be permanently             removed.   South side of Broad St. (EB direction) between Strawberry St.     and Allen Ave.:  parking will remain where it currently exists, except for      two parking spaces and one loading zone in front of the Bookbindery             Building’s parking deck (east of the parking deck’s entrance).

Monday, January 23 to Saturday, January 28

Media Station Construction: 

• Where: Median of Broad St., from Hamilton St. to 1st St.
• Impacts: Permanent closures of median and inside lanes of Broad St., in both the eastbound and westbound directions, between Hamilton St. and 1st St.
• Details: Work includes saw cutting in median.

NOTE: This should allow LANE greater flexibility to build median stations in Groups 1 and 2 concurrently, when possible.

Station Construction: Allison East 

• Where: Median of Broad St., between Allison St. & Meadow St. 
• Impacts: Permanent closures of median and inside lanes of Broad St., in both the eastbound and westbound directions, at Allison East.
