Sidewalk work in preparation for Pulse station construction activities is scheduled to begin Tuesday, October 4, 2016, weather and progress-dependent.
The first area expected to see sidewalk work will be between Strawberry Street and Allison Street on the north side of Broad Street. This sidewalk work will prepare for an eastbound dedicated left turn (see map below). Additionally, this sidewalk work will complement the future Allison Street Westbound platform, located west of Allison Street in the median.
Final utility work on the south side of Broad Street between Thompson Street and Laurel Street, which has been ongoing since August 16, 2016, is scheduled to be complete by mid-October.
Upon completion of this utility work, station construction work is expected to begin in the median of Broad Street between Thompson Street and Laurel Street. Initial activities will lay the groundwork for the stations. This groundwork will include demolition of concrete medians and curbs to facilitate station construction. Stations expected to be constructed between October 2016 and March 2017 in this area include: Allison Eastbound; VCU & VUU Westbound and Eastbound; and Arts District Westbound and Eastbound.
Curb and median work will be on-going in the coming months, with further updates issued as progress is made. All work is weather and progress-dependent. Work hours remain Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
